About the Auction
This is a manual bidding auction, all bids must be placed before the deadline after which the auction is considered closed and each lot goes to the highest bidder. The bidding deadline is in Central Standard Time and is noted on our auction page. Bids can be placed by email, text, phone, mail, or in person and will be entered by l’art et l’automobile on the bidders behalf. You may place a maximum or proxy bid and we will increase your bid based on the bid increment table below.
Bid increments are as follows:
$1.00 to $99.99 = $5.00 bid increment
$100.00 to $499.99 = $20.00 bid increment
$500.00 to $999.99 = $50.00 bid increment
$1,000.00 to $4,999.99 = $100.00 bid increment
$5,000.00 to $9.999.99 = $250.00 bid increment
$10,000.00 to $49,999.99 = $500.00 bid increment
$50,000.00 to $99,999.99 = $1,000.00 bid increment
$100,000.00 to $499,999.99 = $2,500.00 bid increment
$500,000.00 and over = $5,000.00 bid increment
The high bid along with the next bid increment for each auction will be displayed on the item page, this information will be updated regularly between 10AM & 5PM Central Time. Bids received outside of this time frame will be updated on the web site the following morning.
Starting Bid
The starting bid is displayed on the page of each auction item and is the minimum price that l’art et l’automobile will accept.
Buyer’s Premium & Taxes
The purchase price to be paid by the highest bidder will be the sum of the final bid price plus the buyer’s premium of 10% of the final bid. All applicable local taxes are the auction winners responsibility.
Registering
We'll need your full name, shipping address, email address, and phone number along with a valid credit card and billing address. Contact us by phone at 830.864.5040 or text this information to 516.982.1730. If you prefer you can download our bidder registration form which you can print and return to us by email, text or snail mail.
Once you are registered you'll be able to place your bid(s). When the auction is over you'll have the option to choose a different payment method if you you'd prefer not to use your credit card.
How l’art et l’automobile prevents sniping
We have instituted the concept of a “soft close” on all of our auctions. If an auction lot receives a bid within 10 minutes of the scheduled auction time, the auction on this particular lot will be extended for an additional 15 minutes, then it will continue indefinitely until 15 minutes have passed without a new high bid.
Payment
Payment may be made to l’art et l’automobile by check drawn on a US bank, US currency, wire transfer, PayPal (U.S. only), American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Statements are issued to auction winners and buyers are to make payment within 15 days from the time the statement is issued. If payment has not been received within 15 days of the statement date, there will be a late/storage monthly fee of 1.5%. l'art et l'automobile reserves the right to offer the item to the next highest bidder if the auction winner has not made payment within 15 days of us issuing a statement.
Shipping
We use UPS ground service. Buyer pays shipping. Overseas shipping fees to be agreed upon between buyer and l’art et l’automobile. We recommend UPS for all shipments domestic and international as items can be tracked and insured in case of loss or damage. Any other carriers are the owner’s sole responsibility.
For international shipment, if declared for the full value, this will be the declared value for Customs. The buyer is solely responsible for all import fees.
Your invoice will be included in your package for domestic (USA) shipping, in an email for international.
Return Policy
Buyer must obtain return authorization from l’art et l’automobile. Such authorization is given only under the condition that the lot(s) is not received as described. Requests for return must be made no later than 10 days from receipt of item. Bids cancelled or items returned after the end of the auction for any other reason will incur a cancellation fee of 10% of the closing price.
Conditions of Sale
1. l’art et l’automobile acts solely as agent for the seller of each lot.
2. All property is sold “as is” and neither l’art et l’automobile nor the seller (“consignor”) makes any express or implied representations of any kind or nature with respect to each lot beyond the descriptions contained in the text. It should be noted that all items are described accurately to the best of our knowledge, and questions may be asked.
3. l’art et l’automobile reserves the right to offer duplicate examples to the under bidder.
4. l’art et l’automobile is not responsible for the provenance of lots prior to consignment.
5. This agreement is entered into pursuant to the laws of the State of Texas and shall be so construed and governed.
